- Unidentified Avian Thieves Target Ueckermünde Zoo

Unknown individuals have made off with numerous feathered creatures from the Ueckermünde zoo. Several weaver birds and quails were swiped from their enclosures, as per the police's statement. A zoo keeper spotted the intrusion during his routine checks on Thursday morning. Various enclosures had been breached. At first, a tufted tortoise was also missing, but it was later discovered in the adjacent enclosure with some superficial scratches. The police and the zoo are soliciting any information from potential eyewitnesses.

The thieves seem to have targetted not just avian species, as reports indicate that an owl was also among the stolen other feathered creatures. The police are urging the public to be vigilant for any signs of these missing animals, as they believe that the poachers might try to sell them on the black market.
