Handball Bundesliga - Unequivocal home win for the Kiel handball team
Handball Bundesliga team THW Kiel has celebrated an unchallenged home victory. The record champions and defending champions won 39:30 (21:13) against Bergischer HC on Sunday. With six goals each, Sven Ehrig and Niclas Ekberg were the most successful scorers for the hosts, who remain fifth in the table with 20:10 points. Noah Beyer scored eight times for the visitors, who conceded their 24th defeat in their 24th encounter with the North Germans.
The BHC only kept the game open up to 7:8 in the 10th minute. After that, the team of THW's Head Coach Filip Jicha was in control of the game and kept extending its lead. At THW, left-back Steffen Weinhold celebrated his comeback after a long-term shoulder injury. The 37-year-old came onto the pitch for the first time in the 16th minute and contributed two goals to the victory.
