Labor market - Unemployment in Lower Saxony rises slightly in December

Unemployment in Lower Saxony rose again slightly at the end of 2023 - as is usual at the start of winter. A total of 253,710 people were registered as unemployed, 3570 more than in the previous month, as announced by the Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency in Hanover on Wednesday. The rate remained unchanged at 5.7 percent. A year ago, it was 5.5 percent. Compared to the same month last year, the number of unemployed rose by 14,755.
