Unemployed council wants state program

In view of the threat of federal funding cuts for the reintegration of the long-term unemployed, the Unemployed Advisory Council of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has called for a state-funded program. People who have not had a regular job for a long time need targeted help to get used to fixed structures in their daily routine again. "We still have six employment companies in the state that have the know-how," said advisory board spokeswoman Ariane Kroß on Tuesday in Schwerin. According to her, around 24,000 employees in the north-east have been out of work for some time and are dependent on citizen's allowance. A total of around 41,000 people are currently receiving this benefit from the job centers.

Although it is true that some have made a living with it, the majority are striving for a life that they can finance with their own work, Kroß was convinced. "Survival with Citizen's Income" is the motto of the Unemployed Parliament, which meets in Schwerin on Friday. At the meeting, which is being held for the 24th time, information will also be provided on the results of a state-wide questionnaire campaign. The Unemployed Persons' Advisory Council had asked what experiences those affected had had with the new legal regulations.

The Unemployed Advisory Council suggests that association with the state's labor market entities could facilitate the creation of a program to aid the long-term unemployed, as they possess the necessary skills and knowledge. Recognizing that most individuals strive for financial independence, the council emphasizes the importance of addressing social affairs related to unemployment, especially in light of the Citizen's Allowance dependence.
