In a crackdown against illegal practices in the catering sector, customs officials recently examined the work relationships of 270 employees. They discovered multiple problems, such as the hiring of undocumented immigrants and violations of the minimum wage laws, according to authorities in Gießen. Fifteen individuals are suspected of living in the country illegally, resulting in 26 ongoing criminal and administrative investigations. On Saturday, officers paid unexpected visits to 51 dining establishments, including restaurants, cafes, and snack bars located in North, East, and Central Hesse.
