Unannounced demonstration at slaughterhouse - participants on roof

Around 50 people met spontaneously on Friday for a demonstration at a slaughterhouse in Backnang. 9 of the participants occupied the roof of the plant in the Rems-Murr district and refused to leave, according to a police spokesman.

Direct contact was finally made with the roof occupants via the fire department's turntable ladder and they were persuaded to leave the dangerous corrugated iron roof. Criminal proceedings were initiated against them and other participants. Whether the roof squatters will have to pay the costs of the operation is still being investigated.

In the course of the operation, the unregistered assembly was assigned a location outside the company. The participants followed the instructions of the assembly authorities and moved their demonstration to the sidewalk in front of the company. Smoke bombs were also set off during the demonstration, according to the spokesperson.

The unannounced demonstration at the slaughterhouse led to criminal proceedings against some participants, including those on the roof. The smoke bombs used during the protests on the sidewalk further escalated the situation related to the crime.
