Municipalities - Ulm residents elect their mayor

Around 94,000 people in Ulm in Baden-Württemberg will vote for their Lord Mayor on Sunday. For incumbent Gunter Czisch (CDU), this is his second term in office. He is being challenged by Lena Schwelling (Green Party) and Martin Ansbacher (SPD). All three live in Ulm.

Czisch has been Lord Mayor of the city on the Danube with a population of just under 127,000 since 2016. He was previously the city's finance mayor. In the last mayoral election, he succeeded Ivo Gönner (SPD), who vacated the town hall seat after around 24 years.

Two non-party candidates, Daniel Langhans and Thomas Treutler, have also thrown their hats into the ring. If none of the candidates prevail, there will be a run-off election on December 17.
