Euro Football Tournament - Ukrainian squad shows potential for extraordinary feats, expresses PM.
Spectators enthusiastically cheered on the Ukrainian national football team, with Chelsea's standout player Mykhailo Mudryk, as they conducted a public training session in Wiesbaden. The crowd's enthusiasm was further demonstrated by their continuous chants of "Ukraine."
Hesse's Minister President Boris Rhein attended the session at the Brita Arena on Thursday, preparing for the Euros in Germany. Before the beginning of the training, Rhein commented on the Ukrainian team, "You're probably the best team, the best eleven to have ever come from Ukraine. You can work a miracle, similar to how the men and women are currently working a miracle for freedom in Ukraine." Rhein endorsed the squad coached by Sergey Rebrov, as well as the German team, giving both a thumbs up.
In light of Russia's aggressive warfare, Rhein expressed immense admiration for the Ukrainian citizens. "The men and women in Ukraine are now defending their country against a war criminal, Vladimir Putin and Russia. Ukraine needs to win this war," the 52-year-old stated.
The Ukrainian team will go head-to-head with Romania in the group stage of the Euros on Monday at 3:00 p.m. in Munich. Afterward, they will take on Slovakia (June 21, 3:00 p.m.) and Belgium (June 26, 6:00 p.m.).
