The police directed Selenskyj from Frankfurt Airport in the direction of Wiesbaden. Traffic was temporarily blocked, but this was lifted again after a short time. On Thursday, Zelensky had already spoken to the EU heads of state and government gathered for the summit in Brussels via video link. He appealed to the EU to give the green light for the start of accession negotiations with Ukraine. The meeting in Brussels will also discuss further financial aid for the country attacked by Russia. Economic aid amounting to 50 billion euros over the next four years is being discussed.
Selensky had appealed for support for Ukraine during an unannounced visit to the Norwegian capital Oslo on Wednesday. He had previously been in the USA and Argentina.
