Right before the beginning of the European Football Championship, the Ukrainian national team will have a public training session in Wiesbaden. The team will carry out a training session in front of spectators on July 13 (11:00 am) at the BRITA Arena, as mentioned in a statement from the Hessian state capital on Thursday.
The involvement of Ukraine in the EURO 2024 conveys a message that surpasses sports: Ukraine is part of Europe, said Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) and continued, "In support of this, we have urged for this public training to happen in a broader setting, so many can watch their team."
Ukraine is set to face Belgium, Romania, and Slovakia in Group E during the tournament. Their training base is situated in Taunusstein-Neuhof, not far from Wiesbaden. "I hope that numerous Ukrainian women and men who have found refuge in Hessen will take the chance to attend their team's match and perhaps find some pleasure and a sense of belonging in what undoubtedly is not an easy scenario. I hope the players feel secure and at ease in Hessen," explained Hessian Sports Minister Diana Stolz (CDU).
