U.S. President Biden's security advisor is heading to China.

It's predicted that if Kamala Harris secures the US Democratic presidential election, she'll persist in engaging with China, while simultaneously applying pressure. On the other hand, Donald Trump advocates for a more aggressive approach against Beijing.

A significant American figure stated on Friday that the U.S. is not planning to alter its present strategy. The relationship with China remains characterized by "tough competition." Yet, she underlined, "We're committed to conducting this competition reasonably, ensuring it doesn't escalate into a conflict."

According to reports, Sullivan will have a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing. The main topics of discussion are expected to include China's support for Russia's defense industry post-Ukraine invasion, along with situations in North Korea and the Middle East. Additionally, the military, diplomatic, and economic pressure China is exerting on Taiwan will be brought up, according to the U.S. official.

From China's perspective, Taiwan is a rebellious province that should be reabsorbed into the mainland, even if force is necessary. Lately, Beijing has heightened tension towards Taiwan and engaged in large-scale military exercises involving fighter jets, naval vessels, and drones near the island.

Despite his departure from office, Donald Trump continues to comment on international affairs, expressing support for the firm stance against China. In a recent interview, he criticized the Biden administration's approach towards Beijing, stating that it's too soft.

Despite the change in leadership, some Republicans still support Donald Trump's tough stance against China. A recent poll showed that a majority of Republican voters agreed with Trump's views on China, advocating for a more aggressive approach.
