U.S. military reports: Gaza aid delivery dock reopens for operations
Mid-May, the provisional pier set up was taken apart and shipped back to the Israeli port of Ashdod because of the impending rough seas. Deliveries were put on hold towards the end of May as the temporary pier was ruined in a storm and fixed in Ashdod. As per American news sources, approximately 4100 tons of aid materials have been offloaded thus far.
As the Gaza Strip lacks a port, the US military started constructing the pier in April to transport aid materials to the Palestinian region via sea.
For the past eight months, the Israeli military has been engaged in conflict with the radical Islamic group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The war began due to a significant Hamas assault on Israel, which, according to Israeli accounts, led to the deaths of 1194 people and the captivity of 251 individuals in the Gaza Strip. Since then, Israel has been executing extensive military operations in the Gaza Strip. The health ministry managed by Hamas, which cannot be conclusively confirmed, claims that over 37,430 people have been killed to date.
