U.S. authorities expressing fury over Netanyahu's remarks concerning arms shipments
Netanyahu expressed gratitude for the US's backing during the Gaza conflict in his latest video address. Yet, he found it bewildering that the USA had withheld weapons and ammo for Israel over the past couple of months.
As per US official documents, a single US delivery of 900-kg bombs to Israel was called off. Jake Sullivan, Biden's security advisor, clarified this back in May, citing worries that such bombs might be dropped on urban areas teeming with people.
Israel can count on the USA as its chief ally in the battle against the radical Islamic Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Nonetheless, Biden has been slamming Israeli war tactics more frequently these days.
The fighting started due to Hamas launching an unexpected assault on Israel on Oct 7. They managed to exterminate 1194 people and capture 251 hostages in the Gaza Strip, as per Israeli records. In retaliation, Israel has been engaging militarily in Palestinian territory since then. According to Hamas-managed health ministry's estimates, which can't be independently confirmed, at least 37,430 casualties have occurred so far.
