Crime - Two suspects in custody after knife attack
More than six months after the life-threatening attack on a young man in Mannheim, two suspects have been remanded in custody. The two 21-year-old men were arrested last week, police and the public prosecutor's office announced on Wednesday. Among other things, they are suspected of attempted joint manslaughter.
In April, a 19-year-old got into an argument with a group and was brought to the ground. One of those now arrested is said to have stabbed him several times with a knife. The other is said to have kicked and punched him. The victim was critically injured and had to undergo emergency surgery. The men initially fled unrecognized.
In addition to the two 21-year-olds, the criminal investigation department has identified other suspects. A 23-year-old and his 19-year-old brother are wanted by warrant. They are believed to have fled abroad after the crime.
