Two suspects arrested during searches
Following an attack on two men at a petrol station, police have arrested two suspects during searches in the Upper Palatinate. According to a police spokesperson, officers searched nine properties in Hemau (Regensburg district) on Wednesday.
According to the spokesman, the searches and arrests are in connection with an incident on November 6 in which two men were attacked and seriously injured by a group of people at a petrol station in Hemau. The 42 and 38-year-old men suffered serious head injuries and were taken to hospital, as the police reported at the time. The perpetrators fled after the attack. However, a suspect was arrested the following day. The criminal investigation department is investigating on suspicion of attempted murder.
The spokesman was unable to say on Wednesday whether the suspect arrested at the time was in custody. The spokesman also did not provide any information on the possible background to the crime or the relationship between the victims and the perpetrators. An investigating judge will decide on Wednesday and Thursday whether the suspects who were arrested on Wednesday will be taken into custody. "Various items" were also seized during the searches, the spokesperson said. No details were initially released.
The arrests and searches are taking place in the OBERPFALZ region, specifically in Hemau. The crime under investigation is a serious attack at a petrol station, resulting in attempted murder charges.
