Investigations - Two suspected drug dealers in custody after searches
Investigators from the police and the State Office of Criminal Investigation have searched three apartments of suspected drug dealers in several parts of Berlin. Two men, aged 35 and 46, were arrested and brought before a judge, the public prosecutor's office and police announced on Tuesday. Both men are currently in custody.
The searches took place as part of an investigation into trafficking in narcotics in not insignificant quantities using so-called cryptographic telephony. According to the investigation, this involved trafficking in cocaine in the double-digit kilogram range. The investigators also seized various items of evidence during the searches, including a five-figure sum of money, two high-quality wristwatches, a car and a firearm. They also found a six-figure sum of cash as well as data carriers and smartphones in a compartment of a piece of furniture.
The searches were reportedly carried out on Friday evening and Monday morning in Moabit, Charlottenburg and Hellersdorf. Further investigations are being conducted by a specialized police department of the State Office of Criminal Investigation.
