In Hofkirchen, part of the Passau district, the ground floor and garden of a single-family house had been submerged in water. Authorities announced on Thursday that two elderly women, aged 87 and 84, needed to be saved from the flood. As one of the women was in a wheelchair, there was a sense of urgency to extract them from their residence. The fire department and water rescue service worked together to remove the women safely. The residents had already fled the house the day before, but the older ladies remained behind. After being rescued, they were temporarily relocated to a different location.
