Two senior citizens were taken to hospital on Friday night after a fire in their house in Grafschaft (Ahrweiler district). According to the police, the two over 80-year-olds were treated for suspected mild smoke inhalation. They were able to leave the house on their own. The fire in the detached house was quickly extinguished. The first floor was initially uninhabitable due to the heavy smoke. According to initial findings, a technical defect could have been the cause of the fire. The police estimate the property damage at a high five-figure sum.
