Accident with deer - Two racing cyclists crash badly because of a deer

A deer caused two cyclists on federal road 132 in Bülsted, part of the Tarmstedt community in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district, to fall heavily. The duo was on their way to Steinfeld on Sunday afternoon when the animal jumped out from the right shoulder of the road onto the pavement, according to the police.

The cyclists could not avoid the animal in time and fell onto the road. Both men, aged 56, sustained serious head and upper body injuries and were taken to a hospital. The deer died at the scene of the accident.

The accident occurred in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district, specifically in the community of Tarmstedt. During their leisure time, the cyclists were traveling towards Steinfeld on federal road 132. Following the accident, the victims needed medical attention in a hospital, located outside of Lower Saxony's leisure destinations. Unfortunately, such roadside accidents involving animals are not uncommon in the region, putting both human tourists and local wildlife at risk.
