- Two people still missing in Upper Rhine

The search for the two people missing in the Rhine at Hohentengen (district of Waldshut) initially continued without results. A spokesperson for the Freiburg police headquarters confirmed this upon request.

The water police were previously reported to be on the river with boats searching for the 15-year-old and the 29-year-old. There is currently a strong current on the High Rhine.

The teenager and the woman, both non-swimmers according to police, went under the water on Sunday evening and have been missing since. Along with four others, they had gone too far into the water, lost their footing, and were swept away by the current. Family members who rushed to help reportedly rescued four of the six people from the water. Two of those rescued received medical treatment.

Since then, emergency services have been searching daily for the two missing persons, even across borders. According to the police, divers, two rescue helicopters, and a drone were among those deployed. Hohentengen is located in the southernmost part of Germany, right on the border with Switzerland.

The search for the missing individuals involved in the Rhine incident relies heavily on electricity, as dive equipment and underwater lights require power. Despite the efforts of emergency services, including divers and rescue helicopters, the locations of the missing 15-year-old and 29-year-old remain undiscovered due to the challenging conditions under the water's surface.
