Wiesbaden - Two people stabbed to death - investigation into murder and manslaughter
After the killing of two people in Wiesbaden, allegedly committed by a family member, the police are investigating for murder and manslaughter. The motive remains unclear. The suspect - the brother and son of the two victims - continues to refuse to speak about the crimes in custody, according to a spokesperson for the Wiesbaden Public Prosecutor's Office to the German Press Agency.
In the case of the slain father, investigation is being carried out for alleged murder, and in the case of the stabbed sister, for the suspicion of manslaughter. No further details were initially known.
In order for manslaughter, i.e. the premeditated killing of a person, to be classified as murder, certain "murder marks" must be present. Murder can be punished with life imprisonment.
Several stab wounds to the upper body
According to the latest investigations, the 42-year-old suspect allegedly killed his 45-year-old sister and his 75-year-old father with several stab wounds to the upper body. He then reportedly turned himself in at the police station on Monday and allowed himself to be arrested without resistance.
The family had lived in three separate apartments in a three-unit building. The father and the suspected offender lived alone, while the sister lived with her three-member family, including a small child, who was reportedly present at the scene of the crime according to the statements.
The spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor's Office looked at the crime scene with reference to a "cultured, bourgeois residential area" in the district of Kohlheck.
The brother, who is the main suspect in the case, is currently in custody at the Wiesbaden Police station. The Public Prosecutor's office in Hesse is actively pursuing charges of both murder and manslaughter against him. The German Press Agency reported that the suspect's determination to remain silent about the crimes has not wavered. The investigation into the stabbings has revealed that the father and sister each suffered multiple stab wounds to their upper bodies. The crime scene, located in a "cultured, bourgeois residential area" in the district of Kohlheck, has added a layer of complexity to the case.
