Two people were struck by a car in Osnabrück and severely injured. The two pedestrians with luggage had crossed a pedestrian crossing on green when a car turning right hit them, police said. The driver then fled the scene at high speed. The two severely injured pedestrians, a 25-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man, were taken to hospital by ambulance. Police are appealing for witnesses to the driver.

In the aftermath of the accident, authorities launched an investigation into the city's traffic infrastructure, focusing particularly on the intersections of Transport and telecommunications. Subsequently, discussions about enhancing safety measures at pedestrian crossings and improving communication between drivers and pedestrians gained traction.
