- Two passersby hit by truck and injured
Two independent incidents occurred on Monday where pedestrians were struck by trucks, resulting in serious injuries in some cases. In the Dresden district of Laubegast, a five-year-old girl was lightly injured, according to police reports. Initial investigations suggest that the 42-year-old truck driver may have had a health issue that caused the accident. The driver reportedly ran a red light, veered off the road, and collided with the girl on the sidewalk. The truck then continued and collided with a power box, a tree, and four other cars. The police have not yet provided details on the property damage.
Earlier that morning, a cyclist was severely injured in Gröditz (Meißen district). According to the police, a truck failed to see the woman as she crossed the street while turning, leading to the incident. The woman was taken to a hospital with severe injuries.
The accident in Dresden has raised questions about the truck driver's health, as initial investigations suggest a potential medical issue may have been a factor. Furthermore, the incident in Groęditz resulted in a cyclist being hospitalized with severe injuries due to a truck failing to notice her while turning.
