Two offers for new refugee accommodation
Two offers have been shortlisted in the search for new refugee accommodation in the state. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice announced in response to an inquiry that the market investigation procedure had been completed. As a result, two offers have proven to be suitable. "A final decision will be made in the foreseeable future," said the spokesperson. The spokesperson would not provide any details, such as which properties are involved or where they are located.
Following an agreement between the coalition leaders of the Left, SPD and Greens on a reorganization of responsibilities in the area of migration, the Ministry of Justice of Minister Doreen Denstädt (Greens) could only be responsible for migration policy in Thuringia for a few more days, after which Interior Minister Georg Maier (SPD) will take over.
According to dpa information, the state government is aiming for a change on December 1. The date and further details are to be discussed by the cabinet on Tuesday. The decision on which of the bids for new refugee accommodation will be accepted could already be made by the Ministry of the Interior and not by the Ministry of Migration, which has been responsible to date.
The change in migration responsibility from Minister Doreen Denstädt to Interior Minister Georg Maier could impact the decision-making process for the new refugee accommodation bids. With the Interior Ministry likely to make the final decision, the ongoing migration discussion in the cabinet might influence the selection between the two shortlisted offers.
