- Two motorcyclists injured in a hit-and-run

Two motorcyclists were injured, one seriously, in a rear-end collision near Rheinmunster (Rastatt district). A car coming towards them on the road was overtaking another car at the time, police said. The 20-year-old motorcyclist had to brake hard to avoid a collision. Her boyfriend following behind didn't notice in time and hit her with his motorcycle.

Both motorcyclists then fell into an adjacent cornfield. The 23-year-old was seriously injured and taken to a clinic by helicopter. His girlfriend was also injured, but not seriously. The driver of the car involved in the accident is said to have fled in the direction of Hügelsheim. Police are asking for any witnesses to come forward.

After the collision, the motorcyclists' bikes skidded towards the car, causing significant damage to it. Once they regained consciousness, they discovered their car was missing from the scene.
