Crime - Two men on amphetamines flee from police by car
Two men under the influence of amphetamines fled from the police by car in Chemnitz. During the chase, there were repeated collisions with police vehicles and the uninvolved car of a 65-year-old driver, the police announced on Tuesday morning. The two 40-year-old men also reportedly disregarded several red lights and broke through police barriers.
The police had asked the two men to stop their car on Monday afternoon, as the license plates did not belong to the vehicle, according to reports. However, the driver of the car is said to have stepped on the gas pedal and driven through the Chemnitz city area at a significantly excessive speed and on towards Augustusburg (Mittelsachsen district). In the district of Hennersdorf, the car finally crashed in a ditch and the two 40-year-olds fled on foot. Police officers confronted the two and arrested them. The officers discovered that the men had consumed amphetamines.
It was initially unclear who was at the wheel of the car, which is why the police are investigating both men.
