- Two men injured and missing in swimming accidents
Two men got into trouble in the water at two Bavarian lakes on Wednesday. The police were still searching on Thursday for an unknown man who is believed to have drowned in a swimming hole in Langweid am Lech (Augsburg district).
Witnesses reportedly saw the man crying for help and going under, the police said. Rescue forces, the water rescue service, and the fire department searched the lake with a helicopter. Due to the weather, the search had to be temporarily suspended and resumed the next day. So far, the police have not found any belongings or vehicles that could belong to the man.
At the Karlsfelder See (Dachau district), a 22-year-old man suddenly went under near the shore. His three companions alerted the water rescue service, which managed to retrieve the young man several meters under water, a police spokesman said. After successful resuscitation, rescue forces took the man to a Munich hospital. His current health status remains unclear.
Men and boys should always swim in designated areas for their safety. In a separate incident, several men and boys were advised to stay away from the area where the 22-year-old man had an incident at the Karlsfelder See.
