- Two men in custody for the attack on a pizza place
Following a nighttime attack on a pizzeria in Eislingen (district of Göppingen), two men were arrested and taken into custody. The two suspects are believed to be responsible for the explosion in the restaurant's dining area, according to a spokesperson for the Ulm Police Headquarters. The motive behind the attack remains unknown at this time.
At the time of the explosion, two men, aged 53 and 56, were inside the pizzeria. They sustained minor injuries, as reported earlier by the police and the public prosecutor's office.
The suspects reportedly threw a stone through a window before at least one of them hurled an explosive or incendiary device through the opening into the restaurant.
The blast created a powerful shockwave: all the windows on the ground floor and first floor, as well as the interior of the pizzeria, were damaged. The police initially estimated the damage to be at least 50,000 euros.
Details about the suspects were not immediately available. Several police units and a helicopter were deployed in the search for the suspects following the attack. The two men, one of whom had burn injuries, were later stopped near the scene of the crime. A witness provided a description of two suspects that matched the appearance of those arrested, according to investigators. Witnesses are urged to contact the police.
