Two men are in custody in Ingolstadt on suspicion of severe arson following a fire. As reported by the police, the two allegedly intentionally set fire to the basement of their single-family home on Thursday. According to a spokesperson, the damage is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of euros.

Investigators from the Criminal Police found initial indications of arson during an inspection of the fire site. The spokesperson did not provide details on these indications. Following further investigations, the two suspects, aged 82 and 55, were arrested. A judge ordered their detention on the weekend. The spokesperson could not initially provide any information on possible motives.

The single-family house where the arson occurred was their residence, as stated by the police. Despite being in their 80s and 55, the two suspects were taken into custody for allegedly setting fire to their own home.
