- Two men in court after jewellery store robbery

Following a raid on a jewelry store in the city center of Hannover, a trial is taking place once again. On Wednesday (8:45 AM), two men aged 19 and 23 will face court for attempted murder, as announced by the Regional Court of Hannover. It is alleged that the 19-year-old, along with a previously convicted accomplice, raided the store and shot the jeweler, hitting him once. The 23-year-old is accused of recruiting the two young men for the raid. The 20-year-old accomplice was sentenced to seven years in juvenile detention in February.

On July 11, 2023, the two men allegedly smashed the display cases of the jewelry store with a hammer, looted it, and shot a 39-year-old employee, causing life-threatening injuries. The perpetrators escaped with their loot, various gold chains, on women's bicycles. Many passersby witnessed the getaway. The alleged shooter, who had fled abroad in the meantime, surrendered about seven months later. The police arrested the accomplice about two months after the raid. A total of ten trial days are planned.

The case against the two men for the jewelry store incident will be heard at the The Court of First Instance in Hannover. After being accused of recruiting the young men for the raid, the 23-year-old will be examined closely in this trial.
