Two men convicted in Göttingen for falsifying MPU reports
The MPU is usually ordered in most cases due to alcohol or drug offenses at the wheel. According to the Prosecution, both men were responsible for ensuring that drivers received positive reports, even if they had not passed the corresponding tests.
The 32-year-old is said to have taken over the "customer care" at an MPU consulting office as an employee, the 64-year-old is said to have converted negative reports into positive ones on the computer. Both were found guilty of document forgery and falsification of so-called evidential data.
The proceedings against another defendant, who was supposed to have taken over the coordination between the 32-year-old and the 64-year-old, were reportedly separated by a court clerk. A fourth defendant, who was supposedly involved in the falsification in two cases according to the indictment, was acquitted.
The two men's actions led to an investigation by the public prosecutor's office in Goettingen, focusing on the falsification of MPU reports. The forged reports included certificates stating that drivers had passed tests they had actually failed. After the trial, the 32-year-old and the 64-year-old were both convicted for their roles in this forgery and data manipulation.
