- Two men are said to have committed numerous burglaries
The police have arrested two suspected burglars who are believed to have committed numerous crimes in Baden-Württemberg, Saxony, and Switzerland. The two men, aged 32 and 22, are alleged to have struck at least ten times in Bopfingen, Ellwangen, and Aalen in the Ostalb district in June alone, according to a police spokesperson. Additionally, the 22-year-old is suspected of committing 17 burglaries in the Dresden area last year. In 2021, he is believed to have been involved in around 60 burglaries in Switzerland.
The 22-year-old was arrested at the end of June by Swiss police and is currently in custody. The 32-year-old was arrested by Aalen police at the beginning of July and is also in custody. The amount of loot the suspects made is still unclear. Investigations are ongoing.
The authorities in Switzerland have requested assistance from the European Commission to facilitate the return of the stolen property, as per the regulations. Subsequently, The Commission shall adopt implementing acts laying down the rules for the application of the relevant recovery legislation.
