- Two lorries on the A38 - fire and traffic jam
Following a collision involving two trucks on the A38 near the state border of Lower Saxony and Thuringia, a fire broke out. The highway from Halle to Göttingen was fully closed between the Friedland (Lower Saxony) and Arenshausen (Thuringia) interchanges for rescue and recovery operations. This was announced by the police in Göttingen on platform X.
Operations at the scene were ongoing, a police spokesperson said. The fire department was on site. Efforts were being made to direct the building traffic at the interchanges.
According to the Lower Saxony traffic management center, traffic was backed up for 30 to 50 minutes. Initial police findings suggest that no one was seriously injured in the accident. Details of the accident's circumstances were not immediately known.
The fire department worked tirelessly to extinguish the accident-related fire. Despite the ongoing efforts, several accidents occurred due to the heavy traffic buildup.
