Northeim - Two injured in nursing home fire

Two people have been injured in a fire in a nursing home. The fire in Bad Gandersheim in southern Lower Saxony broke out in a resident's room early on Monday morning for reasons that have not yet been clarified, police said on Tuesday. An 88-year-old resident was seriously injured and a 55-year-old carer was slightly injured. Both were taken to hospital.

The fire damaged the third floor of the building to such an extent that it is currently uninhabitable. However, only furnishings were damaged. The other occupants were accommodated in other rooms. The police estimated the damage at 50,000 euros.
