Fire department operation - Two injured in apartment fire in Nordhausen

A woman and her seven-year-old daughter have been injured in an apartment fire in Nordhausen. The 44-year-old woman and the child received medical treatment for suspected smoke inhalation, police said on Wednesday. The fire in the apartment building broke out on Tuesday evening for as yet unexplained reasons. As things stand at present, a technical defect is just as possible as negligent behavior, they said. The emergency services managed to prevent the flames from spreading to other parts of the building. The affected apartment is currently uninhabitable.
