Fires - Two dogs die in house fire in Oppurg

Two dogs have died in a house fire in Oppurg (Saale-Orla district). A female resident was taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, the police announced on Saturday morning. The resident noticed a fire in the kitchen early on Friday evening when a smoke alarm went off. She then fled to an office room for protection, from which she was rescued by emergency services shortly afterwards. Two dogs died as a result of the fire and eight others were rescued by the emergency services.

According to reports, the firefighting work lasted several hours. According to the police, the house is no longer habitable. It is still unclear exactly how the fire broke out. The investigation is ongoing.
