House fire - Two dead after fire: Candle or cigarette the cause
Following a house fire with two fatalities in Bad Wünnenberg south of Paderborn, investigators assume that a burning candle or a smoldering cigarette started the fire on Saturday. Both bodies found in the house are to be autopsied on Thursday, as the police in Paderborn announced on Monday.
The care service had noticed the fire on Saturday morning and alerted the fire department. They then found the lifeless 73-year-old woman in the living room and the equally lifeless 65-year-old man in the bedroom. Fire investigators and an expert examined the scene of the accident on Monday morning.

Investigations suggest that the fires in Bad Wünnenberg, which led to the tragic deaths of two individuals in North Rhine-Westphalia, might have been caused by a misplaced candle or an unattended cigarette. Due to the severity of the incident, emergency services were swiftly called, and the house was extensively examined on Monday.
