- Two accidents in aquaplaning - A8 to Munich closed
On the rain-soaked Autobahn 8, there were two aquaplaning incidents with several minor injuries in the district of Esslingen. The A8 was fully closed in the direction of Munich for vehicle recovery, as a police spokesperson stated on Thursday morning. The closure has since been lifted.
Late Wednesday evening, a car near Kirchheim unter Teck in the area of the Kirchheim-Ost interchange spun out of control due to aquaplaning and collided with a 40-year-old's camper van, which also spun out. The 34-year-old driver and the four occupants of the camper van were lightly injured.
At the same time, there was another reported incident: In the area of the Kirchheim-West interchange, a car also spun out of control due to water on the road. The driver was lightly injured.
The 34-year-old driver and the occupants of the camper van had to deal with damages to their aquaplaning vehicle, which was a car. The incident happened near where another car lost control due to the same wet road conditions.
