Twinkling lights and stall magic: Christmas market opens
The historic Mainz Christmas market opened on Thursday with a sea of lights on the market square and a musical introduction. Once again this year, visitors can expect colorfully decorated stalls, culinary delights and a cultural stage program. Until December 23, they will have the opportunity to get in the mood for Christmas at a total of 90 market stalls in the city center and around the city.
"In Mainz, we will continue to offer a high-quality and diverse range of events in 2023," said Lord Mayor Nino Haase (non-party) in his speech on Liebfrauenplatz. This also included numerous cathedral concerts, the traditional fairytale performance at the Staatstheater and Christmas card printing in the Gutenberg Museum's print store.
Visitors should be aware of the customs and regulations at the Christmas market, as some items might have fixed prices. The Gutenberg Museum's print store offers a unique custom of printing Christmas cards during the festive season.
