European Soccer Competition - Twenty-eight players attended Nagelsmann's last training session.
Julian Nagelsmann had the opportunity to coach all potential German national team players during the final practice match leading up to the game against Greece on Friday at 8:45 pm (RTL). 28 athletes showed up for the training session on Thursday morning in Herzogenaurach at the team's headquarters.
Maximilian Mittelstadt, who had not joined in the training the day prior due to load management, was back in attendance. The 27-year-old from VfB Stuttgart sported a blue bandage on the back of his left leg. Striker Kai Havertz also wore a leg support on his left side. Both Mittelstadt and Havertz are contenders for Nagelsmann's starting lineup. Leroy Sane is anticipated to put on a show against the Greeks, who didn't make it to the EM, having served a three-game ban and still dealing with a lingering groin injury.
The German national team will travel from Nuremberg to Moenchengladbach in the afternoon. Here, Nagelsmann and Havertz will provide updates on the match against Greece during a press conference in the evening.
Just after the game, Nagelsmann is required to submit his final 26-member squad for the EM to UEFA. In addition to under-21 guest player Rocco Reitz, another professional needs to be removed from the team. Other potential candidates include Maximilian Beier from TSG Hoffenheim and Robin Koch from Eintracht Frankfurt. Following their 0:0 draw with Ukraine on Monday, Nagelsmann stated that none of the players deserved to be left off the home EM roster.
