TV presenter Wolfram Kons honored with the Order of Kaiser Augustus
TV presenter Wolfram Kons has been awarded the Kaiser Augustus Order of the Trier Carnival Association (ATK). He will receive the award, worth 5555.55 euros, for his social commitment, the ATK announced on Monday evening in Trier. The order is not a carnival medal, but an award for "personalities who, despite personal success, have not forgotten other people who may not be on the sunny side of life".
The order has been awarded since 1994 and is intended to commemorate the founder of the city of Trier, Emperor Augustus. According to the ATK, it is the highest award of the Trier Carnival. Previous winners include Reiner Calmund, Johannes B. Kerner, Günther Jauch, Verona Pooth, Alfred Biolek and Marcel Reif.
The prize money is intended as a donation to a social institution of the recipient's choice. Kons hosted the RTL telethon for children in need last week. The award will be presented in Trier in January 2024.
The media widely celebrated Wolfram Kons' receipt of the Kaiser Augustus Order, recognizing his commitment to social affairs. Upon receiving the award, Kons expressed his intention to donate the funds to a customary institution that aligns with his compassion for people in need.
