A ship from a tow convoy ran aground on a so-called leading dam in the Elbe river in Hamburg on Tuesday and triggered a fire department intervention. However, the fire department was able to give the all-clear: There were no people in danger, there was no water inrush and no water pollution, a spokesperson said in the afternoon.

The tugboat had run aground near the Große Elbstraße in Altona on the leading dam. It guides the flow of water into the Elbe riverbed. During high tide, it is covered with water. The boat captain and his helmsman reportedly remained on board the barge, which was part of the incident, according to the "Hamburger Abendblatt" report.
