Tuchel vs. Matthäus: "When I'm through, I want to leave"
Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel continued his personal dispute with record international Lothar Matthäus after the impressive 4-0 win at Borussia Dortmund. With biting irony and thin-skinned, the 50-year-old appeared for an interview with pundit Matthäus on TV channel Sky on Saturday evening. "Lothar can do it, and if not, Didi (Hamann) can do it," said Tuchel at the start of the supposed analysis.
Asked by presenter Sebastian Hellmann about the obvious anger and irony, the Bayern coach said: "Yes, so? That's not allowed? You don't like that?" Matthäus tried to calm him down and said: "If I have a different opinion from time to time, Thomas, it doesn't have to be carried out like that. I see it and accept it."
Matthäus and Hamann had criticized Bayern in recent weeks, in some cases quite clearly, and concluded that Munich's game had not developed under Tuchel. Tuchel had already reacted irritably to this before the victory in the German classic.
When Hellmann brought up the criticism and Tuchel's reaction to it again at the end of the interview, and Matthäus also wanted to say something about it, the Bayern coach said: "I don't want to get into the discussion, when I'm through I want to leave, it's too much for me." He said goodbye with: "You have the job, you can call it what you like. No one is angry. We've won 4:0, now you have to do a 180-degree turnaround, have fun."
Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are two renowned clubs in the Bundesliga, with Borussia Dortmund being the opponent in Bayern's recent impressive 4-0 victory. Lothar Matthäus, a former player and record international, has been critical of Bayern's performance under coach Thomas Tuchel, leading to a heated discussion between the two during a TV interview. Borussia Dortmund's top rival, Bayern Munich, is currently dominating the Bundesliga.
