Tuchel hardly baffled by Kane: Scores "on every pitch"

Goalscorer Harry Kane's impressive start at FC Bayern Munich has only partially surprised coach Thomas Tuchel. "It was always clear to me what he could do. There was no doubt in my mind that he can do what he does, score goals and set up goals, on any pitch in the world," said Tuchel ahead of the German soccer champions' Champions League match against Galatasaray Istanbul on Wednesday (21:00).

Kane, who signed for over 100 million euros from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, has scored three times in each of the last two Bundesliga games against Darmstadt 98 and Borussia Dortmund. Tuchel rested the 30-year-old for the cup tie in Saarbrücken. The England captain has scored 15 goals in ten league games. In the Premier League, Kane has two goals to his name after three appearances. "He does it as a matter of course, he's done it for over ten years in the most difficult league," said Tuchel on the striker's composure in front of goal.

Nevertheless, Kane's top start in Munich "cannot be rated highly enough", said Tuchel: "It's Harry's first change of club. He's leaving the island, going to a new league, to a new city. That's a huge step, also for those around him."

Tuchel noted that there are always uncertainties when moving clubs, especially abroad: "You can't take it for granted that things will work out so quickly and so well." Kane is "exactly in the right place" at FC Bayern. And Tuchel predicted with regard to Kane's performances and goal rate: "And that's not the end - for sure."
