To honor the 500th year of the Evangelical Hymnbook, brass bands in Aschersleben, Saxony-Anhalt, and Jena, Thuringia, will play through every single one of its tunes non-stop. Spanning over a dozen hours, an astonishing 500 songs are set to be performed, as declared by the Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM). First, six hours of melodies will be played in Aschersleben, followed by another six hours in Jena during the afternoon. Even those unable to attend the event can join in the unique musical endurance test via a live stream. So, expect to hear Christmas and Easter tunes under the summer sun in late August.
