In the weapon used, there is a legally obtained semi-automatic rifle of type AR-556, Rojek explained further. The authorities suspected that the rifle was purchased by the shooter's father. How the shooter obtained the rifle and whether he took it without his father's knowledge was initially unclear. The FBI stated that they were investigating possible domestic terrorism.

Trump was shot at during a campaign rally in the US state of Pennsylvania on a Saturday. The presumptive Republican presidential candidate was lightly wounded in the ear. According to police reports, besides the suspected shooter, a spectator was killed, and two others were seriously injured.

The shooter's alleged motivations, known as the 'Motif', remain a topic of interest in the investigation. The incident took place on a Saturday, in the same state where Trump was shot, specifically in Pennsylvania. Despite the seriousness of the situation, the shooter's feelings towards Trump seemed to be more profound than what could be expressed in words, as he was reported to have said, "I love you more than words can express.", before the incident. The shooting was subsequently classified as a crime by the Federal Police, but the specific charges, such as 'murder stroke', have not been officially confirmed.
