Accidents - Truck with hazardous goods overturns on A7: Complete closure and traffic jam
In icy conditions, a hazardous goods truck skidded and overturned on the Autobahn 7 near Heidenheim. The freeway in the direction of Ulm was fully closed for hours, with a traffic jam up to eleven kilometers long, according to the police. The road was reopened on Tuesday morning.
The truck had veered off the road to the right during the night, tipped over and came to rest on the embankment. The trailer had become detached from the towing vehicle and came to a standstill across the road. The 55-year-old driver was probably slightly injured, but was able to free himself from the cab.
The container body of the truck was deformed and slightly damaged by the accident. The fire department classified the small amount of liquid that escaped as harmless. Whether there was any damage to the floor has yet to be determined. The truck and trailer were towed away and the hazardous goods were to be reloaded by a specialist company. The police estimated the damage at around 80,000 euros.
