One seriously injured - Truck plunges several meters into the ground
A truck loaded with gravel has crashed through the guardrail of the Europabridge in Koblenz, Germany, plunging several meters deep onto a feeder road. According to the police, the truck was traveling north on the B9 section of the bridge when it veered off the road and broke through the guardrail. The truck remained overturned and embedded in the feeder road for four to five meters.
The truck driver was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. Additionally, a small transporter was damaged on the feeder road, which was being used by the transporter at the time. However, its driver remained unharmed. The small transporter was hit by the truck in the rear end.
The feeder road out of the city towards the Europabridge was closed for several hours as a result. Traffic on the B9 in the northbound direction also ran one-way for a while. The cause of the accident must still be determined. It cannot be ruled out that it was a medical emergency for the truck driver.
