Accident - Truck overturned: A2 in the direction of Hanover closed for hours
An overturned truck blocked the Autobahn 2 near Bielefeld for hours on Thursday. The emergency services wanted to close the lane in the direction of Hanover to recover the truck, which had tipped onto its side in the morning. It was only reopened at 7.23 pm.
The driver was injured, but was able to free himself from his truck, which was loaded with a crane, according to the police. The cause of the accident was initially unclear.
A short time later, according to the police, there was a rear-end collision on the opposite carriageway involving three cars. The police are investigating whether one of the drivers may have been inattentive due to the truck. No one was injured. Officials did not initially provide any information on the amount of damage. The accidents caused kilometers of traffic jams.
