- Truck hits cyclist with mirror - seriously injured
A cyclist was struck and severely injured by a truck in Büdingen, Wetterau district. The truck hit the 56-year-old with its right side mirror, causing him to fall, as police reported. A rescue helicopter took him to a hospital in Frankfurt. According to police, the truck driver was likely blinded by the low sun and didn't see the cyclist ahead on Sunday.
Police also reported a subsequent accident in which a 27-year-old woman was severely injured. A 25-year-old driver suddenly braked hard upon noticing the truck accident, causing a 21-year-old woman driving behind to rear-end him. Her car veered onto the opposite lane and collided with a parked vehicle occupied by the 27-year-old, who was severely injured and taken to a hospital.
The initial road traffic accident involving the truck and the cyclist significantly disrupted traffic in the Wetterau district. Due to the accident, a chain reaction occurred, resulting in another road traffic accident.
